Good to know for getting around
Getting around Nosara means dirt roads. These tips save you surprises.
Dirt roads
Most of Nosara is dirt road: dusty in the dry season, mud and puddles in the green one. Drive slowly, especially near homes and people walking.
The beach isn't a road
Driving on the sand isn't allowed in Costa Rica. Leave the vehicle at the beach access and walk the last bit.
Helmets, always
On the ATV a helmet is required for the driver and the passenger. They're included.
Better by daylight
Roads have no street lights. Plan to be back before dark: the sun sets between 5:15 PM and 6:10 PM, depending on the month.

Honda ATV 520: 2 seats. Ford Edge 2023: 5 seats. Golf cart: 4 seats. Town & beach shuttle: up to 4 passengers. Airport transfer Liberia (LIR) - Nosara: up to 4 passengers. If there are more of you, get in touch and we'll arrange it.
What do I need to drive?
To drive the Honda ATV 520, the Ford Edge 2023 or the Golf cart, you need a valid driver's license and your passport or ID, and to sign the rental agreement. We get back to you to confirm availability and explain how to send your documents and sign the agreement. You don't need a license for transfers: the driver does the driving.
Is there a security deposit?
Honda ATV 520: USD 300. Ford Edge 2023: USD 500. Golf cart: USD 200. You see it with the total before you book, and the team explains how it's handled when you get the vehicle.
How far ahead do I need to book?
At least 1 h ahead: Town & beach shuttle. At least 2 h ahead: Honda ATV 520 and Golf cart. At least 12 h ahead: Ford Edge 2023. At least 24 h ahead: Airport transfer Liberia (LIR) - Nosara.
Does the shuttle around Nosara cost extra?
No, it's included in your stay. Rides within Nosara (Guiones, Pelada, town). Up to 4 passengers. Request it at least 1 h ahead.
Can I drive on the beach?
No. Driving on the sand is prohibited in Costa Rica, and the agreement prohibits it too. Leave the vehicle at the beach access.
